Making Positive Change

Image
It's one thing to say stuff needs to be changed... it's another to actually step up and offer assistance in that change. I'm not in the US, so I can't go to protests or anything like that, but as a white guy who wants to see some positive change in the world for all people, I feel that it is right to help out when and where I can. So, I've donated a couple of products to Steve Trustrum's " Reuniting Families Charity Bundle "... currently sitting at over $600 worth of products, for $29.99 There's some good stuff in the bundle, and it's for a good cause, so go and check it out.

Supporting some fine English folks

Image
I'm an Australian of strong Scottish heritage, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the fine work of some great English game designers and manufacturers of miniatures. No, I'm not talking about Games Workshop... I'm talking about the independent guys, who are going to probably face a tough couple of years in the near future with the whole status of the UK with regard to the EU kerfuffle. I'm not going to get into the politics of it here. I generally save my rants about politics and religion for Facebook. What I know of a lot of them, I think I know how they probably voted. My only thoughts with this post are to let thewider community know about them, and maybe point a few sales in their direction to help them out as uncertainty looms (also helping the rest of us out while the British Pound is the weakest it's been for quite some time).  First up, I'm thinking of Mark Bednall from Grey Matter Figures who produces one of my favourite piece...

Bug Hunt Video

My first video project has been completed... ...not perfect, but not bad for a first effort.

FUBAR Fever Now Online

I've thrown together all of the play sheets and information I used for last weekend's FUBAR session into a zip file and made it available for sale over on DrivethruRPG/RPGNow. FUBAR Fever Unless I manage to do something thatI'm really happy with for this FUBAR Magic(k) system that I'm working on, this will probably be one of last supplements before I launch a formal Kickstarter/Indiegogo project to produce a hardcopy of the rule book.

Some figures

Image
I've been in the mood to paint some more figures lately. Like so many other gamers, I have one of the Reaper Bones sets coming my way in March, and I've tried to get on board the Malifaux kickstarter (but that's an ongoing set of new issues). While waiting for these, I've got dozens (if not hundreds) of figures waiting at home, hoping for a coat of paint on them. But I'm always interested to see some good new figures from companies I might not have heard about. Scale75 seems to be a Spanish company that I've just found out about. They might be getting a bit of my money shortly. (Especially if I keep having trouble with this Malifaux project...)

Interlinked Scenario Stories

Image
I've got the rules and a decent range of figures for "Freebooter's Fate", but haven't had the chance to play a lot of it, on the other hand I have played quite a bit of Rackham's 2nd and 3rd editions of Confrontation. Both of these games are story driven wargames (I'd have included Malifaux among these, but didn't for reasons that I'll make clear soon). In each game there are stories that can be told by feeding the results from one scenario directly into the next...did you get the captive? if so she'll join your team in the next game...did you capture the castle? if so, your team will be the one defending it in the next scenario. I don't know of many games that specifically take victory elements from one scenario than feed them into the next to tell a consistent story. Malifaux provides specific victory elements for specific factions and characters, but so far it hasn't made an effort to link specific scenarios into longer camp...

Deathwatch Collector's Edition

Image
I've long had a passing interest in the rich mythology surrounding Games Workshop's Warhammer 40k. The Space marines with their almost Nazi zeal aiming to eliminate the other races of the galaxy, the ancient Eldar who are a vague mask for the normal elves in a fantasy setting, the inhuman Tyrannids, and the other races that make up the milieu. They've been pumping away at this stuff for decades, and they've had a dedicated following...but it's only recently that they've had a proper roleplaying game within in the setting. I never really got into the setting as well as I could have because I didn't want to paint up hundred of figures just to get into a game. I liked Necromunda, and I had a couple of teams for that game...it came close to role-playing, but with a story guided by the exploits of a small team...the scope didn't cover the breadth of the Warhammer 40k universe though, and the other races simply weren't represented (not in the same way that...
